Forever YoungThe Southaven Chamber of Commerce is DeSoto County’s largest coalition of businesses. Its network of business people, managers, professionals, elected officials and individuals works together to create a friendly and prosperous community. The Chamber serves as the front door to the community, and there’s always a welcome greeting for those who call or drop by for a visit. A progressive Board of Directors and staff assure that the Chamber is there to serve – today and tomorrow.

BENEFITS OF MEMBERSHIP

Southaven Magazine - 15,000 copies are distributed annually. This is the major relocation tool used by the Chamber and area realtors. It contains essential community information and a Business Directory with the names of our Chamber members - listed alphabetically and categorically.

www.SouthavenChamber.com - the Chamber’s website includes the business directory of our members, giving them FREE worldwide exposure. Hyperlinks to member websites available.

Calendar- post your up-coming events on our community calendar which is a link on the Chamber’s website.

Visitors Guide - a full color brochure advertising members in the lodging, dining, shopping and attractions business; 10,000 copies published annually for visitors and residents.

Business Referrals - each year thousands of referrals are given from our customer referral database in which we refer customers exclusively to members. Plus, thousands of magazines and member brochures are distributed annually.

Downtown Revitalization - the 51 & Main Association is a division of the Southaven Chamber. Its threefold approach is a powerful economic development tool.

Networking Events - these informal business-builders provide an opportunity to meet potential clients through conversation and business card exchange. Quarterly Luncheons and Coffee & Conversation are prime examples.

Newsletter - subscription to the “Chamber Network” the Chamber’s monthly newsletter provides the latest news and event information that could impact business activity; also features new members and our members’ accomplishments and special events.

Member to Member Discounts - participation in this is FREE. This program gives members the opportunity to offer their goods or services to Chamber members at a savings. This opens the door to hundreds of potential customers.

Direct Mail Advertisement - each month members may promote their business, reaching hundreds of potential customers through inserts or direct advertising in the “Chamber Network” newsletter.

Grand Openings / Ribbon Cuttings / Ground Breakings - these ceremonies increase the visibility of new and expanding businesses. The Chamber provides pre-event and post-event publicity and extends invitations to the Mayor and Chamber Ambassadors. Photos in the “Chamber Network” newsletter.

Health Insurance - CHAMBERPLUS is a specially-priced plan designed for Chamber members only. Health coverage is provided by Blue Cross Blue Shield.

Flexible Spending Accounts– are available to Chamber members with 2 or more employees, and they work in conjunction with any current insurance program.

NETWORKING & EVENTS

Desoto AppealDesoto Business & Trade Expo - the Chamber's largest event showcasing area businesses to the general public in a 5-county area including north Mississippi, Memphis and Arkansas. A one-day event where the focus on Business to Business networking and public awareness.

Amazing You! A Celebration of Women – three great events, one great day! The main event is the ATHENA® Awards Luncheon. The day also includes a day-long Marketplace and culminates with a Celebration of Women of Faith in the evening.

COMMITTEES & COUNCILS

Athena AwardAthena Council - recognizes the achievements of women and men, the service they provide to the community. This council provides programs that serve to inspire and support women of all ages and career paths. Members of the ATHENA Council include past award recipients and Chamber members who support the mission and goals of the Council.

Ambassadors Committee - assists with member retention through personal contact with new and existing members; to promote the Chamber and its activities and programs throughout the community; to serve as greeters at all Chamber events and Ribbon Cuttings; to encourage member networking by greeting members and introducing them to other members and Chamber leadership; to serve as the eyes and ears of the Chamber and bring any issues to the staff.

Business Development Committee - develops programs and services that sustain existing businesses and promote the development of new businesses; recognize businesses for their accomplishments and contributions; tourism promotion.

Celebrate DeSoto Committee – plans an event to promote Chamber member businesses to the general public; to develop and promote a positive image for the Chamber throughout north Mississippi and Memphis/Shelby County

Community Development Committee- builds relationships with community service organizations and citizens; to undertake programs and projects that will build a strong community and a better community.

Finance Committee - to assures adequate funding for the Chamber to sustain programs, meet goals and assure financial stability.

Networking & Promotions Committee - provides networking and promotional opportunities and events for businesses; to recognize member milestones and accomplishments; Man of the Year Award; Woman of the Year Award
